Powell River Sea Fair 2009

Powell River Sea Fair, a tradition since 1962, brings together the community for fun in the sun in the last weeks of July.  There are contests before and during the big weekend, a variety of entertainment, local vendor displays, and a carnival. There are fireworks on Saturday night and Sunday is family day with activities focused on the little ones.

In 2008 people and the community worked together to make Powell River Sea Fair a great success once again. Memories will linger of excellent entertainment, duck racing and good family fun. Check back for photos of all the events both before and during Sea Fair, including photos of the parade, entertainers and lots more.

A heartfelt thanks to all the hardworking volunteers who gave their energy and time and the many sponsors who make the Sea Fair possible year after year. However, special thanks should go to  Donna and Verna Rekve as well as Carol Hamilton, for their unbounded energy, enthusiasm and ‘heart’ that went into making the event a success. There are very few people who would give so much time and energy. From numerous accounts from people after the weekend, the entertainment line-up was the best in years and exceptionally well organized. Thanks go to Glen Oglivie, Dennis Fox and Len Menard.

Plans for 2009 will be posted here as they are known. Please consider volunteering, even if just for a few hours. In the meantime have a look at the Sea Fair photos and share the memories of a town having fun.   .
